Dear Older Me
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
Dear 26-year-old me,
Yikes. Where do I begin? Oh, wait, I know.
Are you married!?!??!?!?! Engaged?!??! Pregnant!??! Mom already?!?!?
That takes care of that, as those are the main questions that come to mind. 😉 There are others. I wish I could meet you. I want to know all of the things God’s got planned for these next ten years.
Are you wiser or more foolish? We are talking about Aliyah here, and so it’s, well, very possible that you’re more foolish. At the rate I’m going anyway. *laughs* *eyeroll* I guess in ten years, I’ll be done with school. Woot, woot!!! What lenses do you have on your camera now?!?! Did you upgrade to a different DSLR?
Are you a cross-country medalist? I’ve only medaled once and it wasn’t really an official first-second-third-place type of thing. GAH I wanna know my future PR’s so bad!
What do you look like? Did you eventually highlight your hair?
Did I finally edit Sunrise?!?!?!?!? Oh my goodness this is sad – I don’t know for sure if I ever will finish that! Is With Open Hands still around?
Whew. So many questions. I guess the only thing I can tell you is wow. You have ten years of guidance, wisdom, trust, blessing, hope, trials, character, and grace that I haven’t experienced yet. Do you realize how you, 26-year-old Aliyah, are in deeper waters with Christ and are still lifting open hands? What a testimony of ten more years to His grace! If I could meet you, I’d hug you and tell you to live each day better than the last. You & me, let’s be joined in the today, all the versions of me somehow overlapping with each other in this thing called time. Living in the today gives us cause to slow and grab grace – receive grace – afresh, day in and day out.
Praise Jesus, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Let’s stay present in our todays and let Him take care of our tomorrows.
