Families are my favorite people!! Seriously, there is nothing that makes me happier than seeing sweet family interaction. I love the details that bind people together like a mom’s hug, dads making jokes, littles running around out of control (yes, even this part is beautiful!). I come from a family of 13 kids (yep…you read that right!) and so trust me when I say that I know the good, the bad, and the ugly of family. I know how tough it is. But I also know how when you have nowhere else to turn, your family is there.

Life goes fast. And I mean FAST. Kids don’t wait for anyone (and neither do teenagers, as it happens). All we have is the right now, and everything is always changing. This is why photography is so, so important. In 20 years, you want to be able to remember the golden glow of those toddler curls. The way your tween girl is mature beyond her years, yet still manages to be your little girl. The playful sibling rivalry.

The crazy. The messy. The beautiful.

There is beauty in your family that deserves to be captured. I know how busy life gets and how schedules never seem to give you a moment to spare, but think about your future family. These moments of your current family will not last forever. Take some time now to capture the moments that won’t stay for long.

As I mentioned before, I’m part of a big, no, make that HUGE, family. This past summer, we finally got our act together and took professional photos for the first time in 8 years. EIGHT YEARS. Yes, we’d taken tons of photos in that time frame, and we have videos to recall every once in a while, but for the first time in 8 years we finally have a photo of all of us that is so precious that we want it to take center stage on our living room wall. It was hard arranging outfits, and kid wrangling presented a challenge, but we did it. Here is our final result:

I love this photo with everything in me. These are MY PEOPLE. Let’s create photos like this of YOUR people.
